Inuktun Sighting #28: Minitrac - What a Stud

Versatrax™ Tether Reel on the job

GAME Trenchless Consultants, a consulting engineering firm specializing in providing condition assessment and trenchless rehabilitation expertise of both water mains and sewers, recently sent us this photo with a note: “423 meters and still going!” GAME rented Inuktun’s Versatrax 150™ system to perform an inspection of a 48 inch water main in Montreal.

According to GAME, ‘winter tires’ were required to make the trek, as a previous attempt only allowed them to travel 180 metres. The key to their success came from some advice from our service manager, Andrew Gregory, who suggested employing a MacGyver technique. GAME made an impromptu version of our studded track belts by taking wood screws and putting them in the belts for additional traction.  While Inuktun offers studded track belts for sale, this solution was quicker at the time.
