Inuktun Sighting #58: Take a Peek at the Picotrac

Picotrac™ transporter unit

Picotrac™ transporter unit

Last October, Inuktun President and CEO Colin Dobell presented a technical paper at the ASNT Annual Conference that described a proposed marsupial robotic crawler system for camera and sensor deployment in nuclear waste double-shell tank refractory air slots. During this presentation, the Picotrac™ was introduced – our smallest crawler track yet! Based on the larger Microtrac™ and Minitrac™ transporters, the Picotrac™ is a fully sealed, modular, independently operated track that is 5 inches long with a cross section of less than 1.5 inches square. We’ve moved past the prototype phase and are excited to present the first picture of the production Picotrac™.

Inuktun continues to redefine the standard when it comes to designing and manufacturing remote inspection vehicles to penetrate the most confined industrial spaces. The size of the Picotrac™ module combined with existing Multi-Mission Modular (IM3) technology allows us to offer new, smaller versions of our Versatrax™ systems, including the upcoming Versatrax 50™ system that will be capable of inspecting pipe as small as two (2) inches in diameter when integrated with a Crystal Cam® Onyx camera (formerly the Mini Crystal Cam®). Contact us today to learn more about these new crawlers for small diameter pipe inspection applications.
