Inuktun Sighting #59: Laser Lines and Copper Mines

The equipment has to be 100 percent reliable... We cannot fail completing an inspection due to failures with the robot. That is totally unacceptable.
— Gerardo Olivares, TESRA’s General Manager

TESRA, Technology and Engineering Services for Radical Advancement, is no stranger to on TRACK, Inuktun’s online customer community. Based in Antofagasta, Chile, TESRA has been featured using the Versatrax 150™ crawler system to inspect long pipelines at a local copper mine. And just recently, TESRA upgraded their capability with a new Spectrum 90™ pan-tilt-zoom camera, adding improved LED lighting and integrated laser lines. Check out some of the images captured with their camera, and see how the laser lines were employed to help provide a comprehensive report on asset integrity within mining pipelines.

“The equipment has to be 100 percent reliable. Any defect found that could turn into a broken pipeline is immediately (reported) and the company starts their procedure to change or repair. We cannot fail completing an inspection due to failures with the robot. That is totally unacceptable”, comments Gerardo Olivares, TESRA’s General Manager. Quality and reliability are critical; that’s why TESRA keeps coming back to Inuktun for its remote inspection needs in the mining sector.
