Inuktun Sighting #34: A Hull of a View

Inuktun’s robotic magnetic crawlers are making their presence known in the ship hull inspection and cleaning industry. Spotted along the side of bulk carrier MV Neutrino in Vancouver’s harbour is the Versatrax 100 MicroMag™ crawler evaluating weld integrity, potential corrosion, marine growth and cathodic protection on the hull, bilge keel, rudder shaft and propeller. See what the Spectrum 90 camera sees in this video.

It goes without saying that real life scenarios provide better feedback than in the lab, and our engineering team was able to collect valuable data from this exercise. As a result, Inuktun is on the brink of releasing a waterproof version of the MaggUT™ crawler, the economical and ideal solution for ship vessel inspections. Like its dry-only counterpart, the waterproof MaggUT™ can be rapidly deployed for many applications that exclude most ordinary remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
