Recently spotted performing municipal infrastructure inspection for the City of Montreal is Inuktun’s Versatrax 150™ pipe inspection crawler operated by Game Trenchless Consultants. Employing the rental crawler for remote visual inspection and asset integrity assessment, Game has been working with the City who’s committed to rehabbing two percent of its pipes every year. An expert chosen for a recent Trenchless Technology roundtable discussion, President Piero Salvo discusses more here.
With the trenchless market booming and aging infrastructure continuing to be an industry driver, owners are bidding jobs that are large enough to make it meaningful for contractors like Game Trenchless Consultants. Jobs that are 2,000 or 30,000 feet versus 300 feet helped fuel Game’s purchase of a brand new Versatrax 150™ Mark II long range pipe inspection crawler. The Versatrax 150™ Mark II system is capable of inspecting up to one kilometre in a single run.
With its expanded capability of 3,300 feet travel, the Mark II can operate in pipes as small as 150 millimetres (6 inches) in diameter. Optional fibre optic tether is also available for high bandwidth devices such as onboard high definition cameras like the Spectrum 120HD™ or Ethernet sensors including sonar, retrieval tools, laser profilers or NDT sensors. With a remotely operated camera/sensor raise motor, the system offers highly detailed inspections of even the most challenging pipelines.
