Inuktun Sighting #1: Minitracs™ Go Deep

Having been in business since 1989, it shouldn’t surprise us that our robotic systems and components turn up in some unlikely places. Still, we were reminded of our reach when we stumbled across this photo of our Minitracs™ in the May/June 2015 edition of International Ocean Systems magazine.

Inuktun’s modular design has aided in the creation of numerous customer-built ROV and robotic systems, for instance, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science’s (VIMS) remotely operated underwater vehicle integrating Minitracs™.  That particular vehicle, built around the standard waterproof motorized tracks, was made to assist with situations similar to the cleanup of 2010's Deepwater Horizon offshore oil spill disaster. Depth rated to 100 feet, these units are available off-the-shelf, and Inuktun now offers track options that can go thousands of feet underwater. You won't see these tracks on our website yet, but so much of our technology isn't. Contact us for more information.

Because Inuktun has sold hundreds of crawlers, we don’t always know where they may turn up.  If you come across an Inuktun unit in your travels, snap a picture and tag it #InuktunInTheWild. Who knows, you might just win something…!
