Inuktun Sighting #55: IPI Goes Inline for the Long Line

When it comes to long sewer pipe inspections, Interactive Pipe Inspection (IPI) knows how to go the distance. When their Lake St. Louis project required locating and inspecting 37,000 feet of sewer lines under the lake with only one onshore manhole access, they turned to Inuktun.

It is fully capable of inspecting the smaller 6 to 12 inch diameter pipes over long distances.
— Randy Wilkinson, IPI Project Coordinator/Estimator

A customer since 2011, IPI owns a Versatrax 300™ pipe inspection crawler with a Spectrum 120HD™ pan-tilt-zoom camera. With his many years of experience in the industry and with our technology, President Dennis Smith knew that Inuktun’s Multi-Mission Modular (IM3) technology could deliver a solution for pulling 4,000 feet of cable to inspect eight (8) inch pipes through a single access point. Working closely with IPI, Inuktun created a new inline version of its Versatrax 300™ crawler to operate inside of smaller pipes. According to Project Coordinator/Estimator Randy Wilkinson, the Versatrax 300™ inline system worked perfectly. Smith confirmed that Inuktun’s long ranger made it 3,565 feet and back for the Lake St. Louis project.

The Versatrax 300™ vehicle can be rented (or purchased) for a wide variety of long range pipe inspection applications in the municipal, nuclear, oil and gas, hydroelectric and other challenging industries.
