For those that followed this year’s Shark Week on Discovery Channel, an episode called The Lost Cage featured an Inuktun engineered Spectrum 120HD™ camera that survived a vicious attack by a giant Mako shark.
Inuktun provided the drop camera to be mounted to Gurney Productions’ “Man O’ War”, a high-tech ocean faring raft that spent seven days drifting over 200 miles through the shark infested waters of the Gulf of Mexico. We knew that the camera would have to survive its journey from the shallows of the continental shelf to the depths over the abyssal plane. What we didn’t know is that it would also have to endure the crushing four tonnes per square inch power of a Mako shark as it thrashed and chomped the camera in an attempt to eat it for lunch.
That kind of force will easily destroy a typical camera (like the great white shark that destroyed $12,000 worth of GoPro equipment), but it didn’t even phase the Spectrum 120HD™ inspection camera that was fully functional for the entire research expedition.
Inuktun has been designing industrial grade inspection equipment for hazardous environments since 1989. Our equipment is built to withstand and operate in the most intense environments on the planet. If your company is in need of a solution for a difficult inspection or a challenging environment, contact your local Inuktun office where our team will be more than happy to discuss your options and setup a demonstration. Shark cage not required.
