Inuktun Sighting #132: Spot Risk and Handle Danger with Versatrax 450™

Today’s #InuktunInTheWild sighting is courtesy of Inuktun Europe who recently participated in the Oil & Gas Technology Centre’s (OGTC) Open Doors Day event. The annual event based in Aberdeen, UK, invites the public to visit and see inside local buildings where they would not normally have access.

The Versatrax 450™ foreign object search and retrieval (FOSAR) vehicle was on display, and it was well received by the event’s visitors, according to Inuktun Europe’s Technical Manager, Russell Fraser. Having the opportunity to drive this robust crawler and use the manipulator arm to pick up objects, spectators expressed interest in the types of environments and typical applications for this flexible crawler system.

Seeing and operation the vehicle showed the participants how the Versatrax 450™ robotic crawler can perform remote visual inspection and handling in places that are inaccessible or too hazardous for direct human intervention. The compact system can be deployed in a matter of minutes allowing operators to inspect, capture and safely remove dangerous materials from any site faster than other conventional means. Like the rest of our Inuktun Multi-Mission Modular (IM3™) technology, the Versatrax 450™ is ready for modification with whatever sensor information your industry demands.

Seeing is believing and Inuktun’s global offices invite you to request an onsite product demonstration. Take a look at the setup of Inuktun Europe’s interactive display at a recent BP Aberdeen event.

You never know when you’re going to spot IM3™ technology performing remote visual inspection (RVI) and nondestructive testing (NDT) on your job site. Keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready to capture the next #InuktunInTheWild sighting that may just end up featured on our blog!
