Inuktun Sighting #147: Get Hold of the Right End of the STIK™

STIK™, Spectrum Tank Inspection Kit for Storage Tank Inspection

This week’s #InuktunInTheWild sighting is courtesy of the Inuktun InCommand Robotics team who recently performed an onsite product demonstration of the STIK™, Spectrum Tank Inspection Kit, in Texas. With a united goal to remove human intervention during the cargo tank inspection process, Odjfell, The Dow Chemical Company, and SGS are currently evaluating safer ways to inspect these storage tanks after discharging plastics, fuels, lubricants or similar contents and cleaning the tanks. While the group has come together to find the right technology, Inuktun’s STIK™ is a prime candidate for the visual inspection of the tanks after discharge and cleaning.

The STIK™ is a turnkey remote visual inspection (RVI) system for integrity assessments of tanks, pressure vessels, rail cars and more. It is the portable, convenient, and efficient tool that inspectors are turning their attention to. Designed to eliminate the need for confined space entries (CSEs), Inuktun’s STIK™ reliably performs RVI to assess a container’s fitness for continued service. This includes inspecting for signs of deterioration, discharges, or accumulation of oil inside diked areas. Regular integrity testing is critical to evaluate the structural integrity of a tank’s floor, walls, structure, shell, roof, nozzles and appurtenances, noting changing conditions in corrosion rates and settling. The high definition video footage provided through the Spectrum 120HD™ inspection camera provides reliable, actionable, meaningful and preventive data for records to comply with industry standards.

Check out the nondestructive testing (NDT) performed by the STIK™ in the examples below.

If you’ve been looking for a solution for reducing the costs and risks associated with CSE, the STIK™ delivers. Contact our sales team for answers to your RVI and NDT questions, or better yet – schedule an onsite product demonstration to see exactly how IM3™ (Inuktun Multi-Mission Modular) technology operates in your specific environment.
