This week’s #InuktunInTheWild sighting features the hard-working MaggHD™ crawling inverted along the inside of a pipeline performing remote visual inspection for corrosion, weld integrity and any anomalies detected along the pipe interior. With a high definition continuous tilt camera head, the OnSite MaggHD™ miniature magnetic crawler provides a detailed video report of real-time conditions for a variety of infrastructure.
You may recall a previous #InuktunInTheWild sighting that featured this robotic inspection vehicle employed for the inspection of J-Tubes found on an offshore oil rig. While the MaggHD™ can typically be found performing nondestructive testing (NDT) of aboveground storage tanks, pressure vessels, offshore risers, wind turbines and more, internal pipe inspection is easily achieved with a quick adjustment to the flat chassis to allow for seamless travel on curved infrastructure, like the pictured version from The Dow Chemical Company. Built on the IM3™ (Multi-Mission Modular) concept, the magnet blocks are as adaptable as the camera head which can be quickly removed from the vehicle and inserted on a telescopic pole for nearby but just out-of-reach areas that require a quick integrity assessment.
Inuktun’s MaggHD™ is a powerful tool for discerning inspectors and operators who must be able to trust the quality of their data collection results to make important decisions which ultimately help transform the future.
