Today’s #InuktunInTheWild sighting comes from Inuktun’s very own backyard, featuring long-time client Dougness Holdings who is performing a flush/video program for the City of Nanaimo. The Mission-based sewer maintenance company was founded in 1970 and run as a family business for nearly 40 years. Bill Cameron, the founder’s nephew, purchased the company in 1980 and Dougness Holdings continues to serve contractors and municipalities across British Columbia. While Dougness’s work is spread out all over the place, they have been getting lots of contracts on Vancouver Island and recently performed remote inspections in Campbell River.Read More
Recently seen at the local pulp and paper mill was Inuktun’s Versatrax 300™ long range pipe inspection crawler. The rental was commissioned last September to coincide with the mill’s annual shutdown, for an inspection of original wood stave piping dating back to the 1950s. The 42 inch pipeline carries water from the Nanaimo River to the mill for daily operations. The mill is actively replacing the known bad portions of the pipeline, and an internal examination of the segments that appear healthy from the outside was required to inform the maintenance process.Read More
