This week we found the US Army extolling the virtues of switching to an Xbox controller to operate the periscopes aboard their Virginia-class submarines: they’re cheaper and easier to learn than other industrial options, and they are readily available commercially making for easy replacement. Just like the clunky and heavy military joysticks making duties more cumbersome, Inuktun’s legacy controller requires a similar learning curve that isn’t usually required with the familiar controls of the popular game console.
